Dubbed “Baltimore’s finest in dixieland” by Citypaper, we have been playing melodies from a bygone era at weddings, festivals, bars, private parties, and corporate events in the Baltimore/DC area for over 10 years. Most of the music we play can be classified as Dixieland, or New Orleans Jazz. We bring plenty of youthful energy, mixing vocal and instrumental tunes to get people happy and dancing! You can’t help but have a smile on your face. Our traditional instrumentation is highlighted by tenor banjo, clarinet, and trombone.
A raucous, fun, dancing vibe is our specialty, but we can also tone it down when necessary. The appeal of this music from the 20’s and 30’s is broad, and that has allowed us to perform in all types of venues for a variety of audiences. We’ve played every type of event and venue you can imagine: New Orleans themed corporate events…Mardis Gras events…children’s events in schools and libraries…museums, including the Visionary Arts Museum and the Museum of Industry…restaurants, cafes, bars and Nightclubs… We have been part of many music shows and arts events. And we love to accompany dancers- we have played many a swing dance from Pennsylvania to Southern Virginia! We’ve played at festivals and in parades all around Maryland and in every corner of Baltimore, including Artscape, the Fells Point Festival, festivals in Federal Hill, Hampden, Locust Point, Hamilton, and many of the city’s parks including Druid Hill Park, Leakin Park, and Patterson Park.
In making music over the past 10+ years, we’ve become a Baltimore institution. Playing a big a part in the renaissance of the Station North Arts District, the 6-piece band compiled an 8-year run of monthly gigs at Joe Squared, which began in 2007. Our sporadic public gig schedule along with other news can be found over at our Facebook page.
